Step 1: Check Eligibility
- Any Indian Citizen: PAN can be applied by any Indian citizen, including minors, companies, and organizations.
- Foreign Nationals: Foreign nationals can also apply for a PAN card if they have business dealings in India.
Step 2: Gather the Required Documents
Documents for PAN Card Application:
- Proof of Identity (POI): Passport, voter ID, Aadhar card, or any government-issued ID.
- Proof of Address (POA): Utility bills, bank statement, or Aadhar card.
- Proof of Date of Birth (DOB): Birth certificate, passport, or school leaving certificate.
Step 3: Choose the Application Method
- Online Application: Visit the official NSDL or UTIITSL website to fill out the PAN application form online.
- Offline Application: You can also fill out the PAN card application form at designated centers and submit the required documents in person.
Step 4: Fill the Application Form
If you are applying online, follow the steps on the official website to fill out the application form (Form 49A).
- Fill in your personal details.
- Provide your contact information and documents.
- Upload your photo and supporting documents (if applying online).
Step 5: Submit the Application
After filling out the form, submit the application. If applying online, make the payment for the processing fee and track your application status. For offline applications, submit the form along with the required documents at the nearest authorized center.
Step 6: Acknowledge Receipt
Once your application is received, you will get an acknowledgment receipt containing a 15-digit number. Keep this receipt safe as you can use it to track the status of your application.
Step 7: Track Your PAN Application
You can track the status of your PAN card application using the acknowledgment number online via the official website of NSDL or UTIITSL.
Step 8: Receive Your PAN Card
Once processed, your PAN card will be sent to your registered address. You can also download the e-PAN card from the official portal.
